Muscovy hens are incredible moms and will fully incubate, raise and protect their own offspring without any intervention. We did not artificially incubate any of them, they all were incubated and hatched by their own mothers in natural nests they made for themselves in bushes around our property. Our property is 100% free of pesticides or any artificial fertilizer. The only fertilizer we use is duck poop, and we feed our ducks organic food.... (read more)

Muscovies are excellent foragers who will live off your property for the most part, keeping slugs, ticks and other pests at bay. We only give ours feed at night to get them back into the pen for nighttime safety. They do not require heat in the winter as long as they have basic shelter. They are slightly less aquatic than other ducks and are happy with a simple clean kiddie pool as a water source. They've been an incredible addition to our home, and their eggs are extra rich and delicious, even for duck eggs.
