It is with a heavy heart that I am selling my silly, sweet and oh-so-smart Half Moon Conure. When I brought him home 10-months ago, I had a work-from-home job. He’d sit on my shoulder throughout the day—eating, napping and dancing. In fact, my coworkers were among his biggest fans. Unfortunately, I got laid-off last month, and just yesterday, I accepted a job that requires me to be in NYC 2-3 times per week. The thought of leaving my little guy alone that often makes me sick, so I’m hoping to place him before the end of January as I start the new job on February 1.... (read more)
Here’s a little more about my Half Moon …
FOOD:
He’ll eat pellets, but he much prefers eating what I’m eating. He LOVES ice pops, corn and cashews.
SLEEP:
He falls asleep around 8 pm and wakes around 9 am—sometimes later! He naps 1-2 times per day.
FLIGHT:
He is a flighted parrot, and I do hope, that whomever adopts him, will allow him to stay this way. He likes to be where I am and basically travels on my shoulder, but when he needs to escape my dogs, he’ll fly to a perch.
CAGE:
I leave the door of his cage open most of the day, so he can come and go as needed. His toys are in there, so when it’s time to forge, he heads in. He goes in easily at night. Once the cover goes on, I don’t hear a peep until morning.
NOISE:
He gets chatty after breakfast, around 11 am and stays that way until lunch time. In the evenings, he sits on the back of the couch and walks between me and my husband, making sweet ‘Donald Duck’ trills. He can mimic most whistles we make.
ACTIVITIES:
He loves baths, peekaboo and longs walks on the beach. (Just kidding about the beach) He knows how to ‘give kisses’, ‘step-up’ and ‘come-on’ (jumps on shoulder to leave room). At night, he’s a dancing machine and has three basic moves (the twerk, the shimmy-shake and the burpee). He crack us up!
FUN FACT:
I never named him! Everyone in the family calls him something different with multiple nicknames. From peanut to boo-boo and from wasabi to Cheet-O, he doesn’t really care what you call him, just don’t call him late for dinner. :)
I purchased him for $1150 at 8-weeks old from a reputable breeder. He has a beautiful new dome-top steel cage with all the fixens (4 bowls, 10 perches, a ladder, a swing, a balcony, toys, etc.), plus 10 pounds of food and treats that we’d be willing to sell for an additional fee. I have videos and additional photos to share upon request.
