Additional Comments
I must sell my beloved Bodacious (Bo) as we have downsized our home and we can no longer provide him with the adequate attention and space he deserves.
He is a male and is approximately 25 years old, so he is a relatively 'young adult'; we have had him for nine and a half years and he is definitely part of our flock.
He is somewhat spoiled in that he is taken from his 'bird room' each day to his perch in our living area to hang out with us much of the morning; he can see me through glass most of my work day while I'm in my adjoining home office.... (read more) He has alway had his own large room, with a HEPA air filter, filtered water, the best Harrison Bird Food, and fresh fruits and veggies. He has lived with our Umbrella Cockatoo for two years - and although he always wants to get close to her, she will have none of it - so we keep them apart most of the time.
If you are familiar with Amazons, he will bite; but you can tell when he would rather be alone. He's a bit fickle, especially when it's 'Spring Time'. He will get on your finger most times, and will usually take a playful peck on your finger before he gets on it. He can be very sweet - and sometimes not so sweet - but you will usually know when he's in a mood as he fluffs up and his eyes pin.
He has about 10 words, he whistles and sings, he enjoys the mornings in our living room when on his perch when we have coffee; he LOVES when it gets dark and it's time for sleep. He loves little children, but he can get too excited (loud) around them, so I cover his cage when necessary and he is instantly quiet.
He enjoys a warm water spritz a few times a week, an almond in the morning, and a few seeds for treats during the day. He has some favorite toys and will ring his bell when he wants some attention. He is 'semi-potty trained' in that he won't go on you if you are holding him - he will let you know it's time by giving you a little peck so you can place him on his perch, in his cage, etc.
We want to find a home where someone appreciates birds and especially has the understanding and patience for this special little guy.
Shipping Notes
I live in New Kent Virginia, about 20 minutes east of Richmond. I would prefer for you to pick him up. He has a large steel cage which will require a pickup truck or a van.
