Carmelita is a healthy, 17 year old female, hand fed for the first year, who enjoys being handled outside her cage daily. She has a diet of organic Harrison's pellets, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. She has an extensive vocabulary, often timed for the correct situation, and also sings a song. Recently she started feather plucking, and the lower breast area and shoulders are bare. With a change of environment and the companionship of another macaw she may allow those feathers to grow back.... (read more)
